COWANESQUE VALLEY WATERSHED ASSOCIATION

The Cowanesque Valley Watershed Association continues to look for members who are conservation minded with the desire to improve and preserve the Cowanesque River and surrounding land in the watershed fro future generations.

As members we are dedicated to promoting the proper use of natural resources and encourage proper conservation practices for the following multiple uses in the watershed:

The Association’s current focus is to combat erosion and sedimentation problems in the watershed through education and restoration practices. Recently, local high school students from Cowaneque Valley and Elkland completed an erosion inventory on the Cowanesque River from Mills to Nelson Falls.

The Cowanesque Valley Watershed Association’s mission strives to:

The Association is comprised of four standing committees. Membership in any committee is voluntary for a two-year term.

We hope you join us as we continue to work toward restoring and preserving the natural resources in the Cowanesque River watershed.

The Cowanesque Valley Watershed drains approximately 300 square miles in Potter and Tioga Counties, PA and Stueben County, NY.  A tributary to the Tioga River, the Cowanesque's waters eventually flow into the Chesapeake Bay.
