Steps on How to Use These Sites
Soil Data Mart:
Program allows you to look up information about the soils in Potter County.
To use, turn off your pop-up blocker, and make sure you have adobe reader installed on your computer to view reports before beginning.
Click the Website
Select State
Select County, then click Select Survey Area
Select Desired Survey Area Name for Potter County on the Screen, then click Generate Reports.
This will then generate all the soils in Potter County, and will allow you to generate different Reports. (ex. Forest Productivity, Acreage and Proporationate Extent of the Soils, etc.)
If you wish to choose different reports use the drop down box to choose a different report.
After the report is chosen, begin to click the desired soils. (Hint: Hold down the control button to select or deselected soils one at a time)
Once all desired soils are selected, click Generate Reports.
Web Soil Survey:
Program will allow you to generate maps with desired soils for specific areas.
Click the Website
Navigate By one of the choices to find your desired area interest for soils information, then click View.
Use the Zoom Icons to further zoom into the desired area.
Use the AOI Icon to indicate the area where the soils information is desired.
Click to Yellowish-tan Tab at the top of the page labeled Soil Map.
After the map is generated you can zoom in if needed.
This generates the soils found in the Area of Interest, Map, and a Map scale.
To print the map click Printable Version.
Fill in the information you may want to name the map, choose the map size, whether you want map ticks, or the map scale.
Once finished, click View.
If satisfied with the map, click File, Print.
